Aug. 27th, 2009 08:33 pmYou know what you are, Shaun? You're an enabler. Because thanks to all this Avatar AU talk the muses have been giving me ideas for an Avatar-Sailor Moon AU.
So far I've got Yue in the role of Princess Serenity/Sailor Moon and Katara as Sailor Mercury, with Sokka as Endymion/Tuxedo Kamen. Ty Lee most likely will be Sailor Venus. Mai, I'm thinking will possibly be Sailor Pluto. And Malu the Ghost Witch will be pulled from the card game to be Sailor Uranus.
I'm borrowing a bit from someone who apped Tuxedo Sokka to
permanent_way and cast Meng as his and Yue's child from the future, making her Sailor Chibimoon. And On Ji will be Sailor Saturn.
Which leaves Mars, Jupiter, Neptune and Earth. Toph is probably going to be my top candidate for Sailor Earth, which means that Sokka's going to have to represent a different planet in the Solar System.

Jan. 1st, 2008 10:01 pmThis is how much Avatar has corrupted influenced me: when I saw Mae Whitman on tonight's SVU episode, I had mental images of Katara as a street kid.
Also, I think the ending would have rocked more if Casey had answered Cassidy/Helen's line of "I hate your guts" with Maj. Margaret Houlihan's famous response of "My guts are not here for you to love."

Re: Most Haunted: I wonder if I'm the only one who found it funny that the misogynist husband-ghost got Yvette angry enough to actually cuss him out?
Also, Most Haunted Live is going to be at the Winchester House. The fucking. Winchester. House! Oh man, if there were anything I'd give a limb for, it'd to be in the studio audience of a Most Haunted Live broadcast. That'd be, like, a dream come true for me.
Oh, well. At least it's airing earlier and not on Halloween, as it has in years past. Which means I'll actually get to watch part of it (it's supposed to be 7 hours and starts at 8) as well as keep an eye on the webcams for a bit.
And next Friday we have a new Avatar, and also the premiere of Twitches Too. Add to that issue 28 of Runaways finally coming out next Wednesday...I don't know if I can make it through the weekend.

Nov. 26th, 2006 12:51 amAnd once again, the Avatar fandom amazes me.
And by "amaze" I mean "makes me want to move out to a desert island away from them".
I swear there's only one sane person in that whole slew of comments on that post.

All I can say is I'm pretty disappointed in the choices. The Earthbending kid seems to be the most realistic of the bunch; the rest are pretty Stu-ish/Sue-ish.
Also, the phrase "My stomach already voted" is going to be iconed.

Would it kill people to at least attempt to read the comm before posting questions like this? Would it, honestly? I mean the question's been asked at least half a dozen times since yesterday afternoon, and each time its gotten relatively the same answer.
I really need a Sokka *facepalm* icon for situations like this. But I guess I'll have to settle for Aelita.

Good Fic Recc Week - 2006
Aug. 21st, 2006 07:34 pmOnce again, it's Good Fic Recc Week!
(or at least it is according to
misscam)
This year I will be recc'ing fics one fandom per day. Today's fandom du jour is Avatar: The Last Airbender. So get ready for a trip to the World of Four Nations!
The first fic to be recc'd is Tempest in a Teacup by
akavertigo. For those who may not have heard of it, this is a somewhat alternate universe of Avatar in which Katara and Zuko grow up together in the Fire Nation. The story is told not in traditional chapters, in short one-shots that encompass different stages in the pair's lives and their relationship with each other. It's really an amazing piece as
akavertigo is able to keep Katara Katara, even though she's growing up in the Fire Nation rather than in the South Pole.
Next up is
aviaq's A Rotation of Voices. In this piece the author focuses on four of Aang's past lives - Roku, Kyoshi and two OC Avatars inspired by the statues seen in the Southern Air Temple. Each vignette shows part of that Avatar's personality that has wound up as part of Aang.
And the last recc for tonight, although I could keep going with this fandom (believe it or not), is one of those "20 Facts" fics that people on LJ like to do. Specifically, The Good Earth by Airbender is a "20 Things" fic about everyone's favorite blind Earthbender, Toph. It's just a wonderfully done piece.
Well, that wraps it up for tonight.

Come on, people. It's a bit too early in the second season for me to be writing to
hated_character about Toph. Don't make me do it. Don't make me.

First off, I'm pissed at Nick for only airing one new epi of Avatar tonight instead of two as was supposed to be scheduled.
Secondly, even though all that's been seen of her in the preview is a couple of shots, I think I'm going to like the character Toph. She looks to be about Aang's age, and I'm really hoping that she's going to be the new member of the Avatar team.
I'm also not happy about the beginnings of some Toph-hate I'm starting to see in a certain Avatar comm...

Muse update
Sep. 15th, 2005 04:35 pmThey still won't leave me alone. I've been assaulted with two more crossover ideas: one is Avatar/Mysterious Cities of Gold in which Zia somehow winds up in the Avatar world and and learns that she is a Firebender, and the other is W.I.T.C.H./Code Lyoko in which Hay Lin joins the Lyoko team somehow, someway.
Speaking of Avatar, what I read in this article looks promising: http://www.asmzine.com/features/conventions/sdcc05/sdcc05_avatar_report.html. Knowing me and my fondness for younger characters, I was of course taken with the new character of Meng.
Meng Image 1
Meng Image 2
Hopefully she'll be more than just a one-shot character, but even if she is I know that won't stop my muses from "adopting" her the way they do all my favorite characters.
Pec Thing is in two days, Code Lyoko Season 2 in four!

A young girl named Meng will be introduced, and she may or may not have a slight crush on Aang.
