In other news, my workday at the library yesterday was cut short by a freak thunderstorm (freak as in it came out of freakin' nowhere) and a power outage. We lost one bank of lights and had some of the internet computers reboot on us, so Marla had me shut everything but one of the circ desk computers down. After a while Marla and Pen decided to try flipping the breaker switches in the back room to see if that would trigger any of the lights we had lost...when they were done playing around with that we had more lights off in the building than we'd had before they'd fiddled with it. So Pen decided to clear everyone out and close the library for the night since we didn't know how long it would be until we'd get power back.
And tonight should be just as interesting, because the library is having an open house to tell the citythe truth our side about our plans to build across the street. I swear, the city council is sinking to new lows with this. They had a chance to acquire the land years ago, they didn't jump on it so the library got it, and now they're boo-hooing because the library won't kowtow to their whims. I swear that's all they're doing, is throwing a goddamn temper tantrum.
