And here it is, the last and final day of Good Fic Recc Week 2006. Hopefully I've made your reading experiences more enjoyable with my reccomendations.

Tonight, it being the last day and all, I won't focus on a specific fandom. Instead I'll just pick and choose some fics from fandoms that I haven't already recc'd this week.

To start off with, a Naruto fic. Luc Court was already recc'd earlier this week by [livejournal.com profile] akino_ame. But I have to pimp one fic of his in particular: "Farsighted". This piece is one of the best Hyuuga clan-centric fics at FF.Net, perhaps in the Naruto fandom period.

Next we move on to the Harry Potter fandom, and a fic called "An Aunt's Love" by Emma Lipardi. In a post-OotP alternate universe, Petunia Dursley gets sick and tired of Harry's life being in danger at Hogwarts every year and so attempts to help him hide from the wizarding world. And believe it or not, Harry's actually happier being a normal boy for a change...

"Redemption" by WynterSnow is a Man in the Iron Mask (movie) fanfic for all those who were unsatisfied with the ending, that Phillipe and D'Artagnan never got to know each other as son and father, and that Athos and D'Artagnan never reconciled.

Our next stop is the fandom of Kingdom Hearts. The story is simply titled "plinth" and is by archy the cockroach. This is one of the few - if not ONLY - KH stories focused on who is probably THE most neglected character in the entire game series - Jiminy Cricket. I mean, most of the time the games don't acknowledge that he's around (seriously, where does he go when Sora, Donald and Goofy are fighting the Heartless?).

A popular type of role-play here on LJ is to take your favorite fandom characters and throw them into a new world/post-apocalyptic world. In 2001, Sean Campbell of the TTA-FIC email list wrote a story called "Dancers on the Edge of Eternity, in which there are TTA characters, people from Doctor Who, Planet of the Apes and Martians. And not the nice kind of Martians, either.

And that wraps up Good Fic Recc Week for another year. Until the next!

Coming down to the end here, peeps. And today we venture into another non-animated fandom. Attention all personnel, incoming fic reccs! The fandom today: M*A*S*H.

First on the agenda is "Missing Hawk", by Mariole. "Missing Hawk" is an alternate ending to the episode "Where There's a Will". In it, Hawkeye is captured by the North Koreans when the aid station is overrun and is a POW. All in all, the good doctor Pierce goes through much worse than he did in "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen". But don't worry - there's a happy ending.

Next up are a few fics by Kay_Em2, one of the best M*A*S*H authors in the business. There's "Major Operations", which explains what Charles and Margaret may have been doing at the 8063rd M*A*S*H before "Yalu Brick Road". "What's Love Got to Do With It" and its sequel, "Friends Reunited" reintroduce the character of Ellie Carlisle (from the USO episodes) into Charles' life. Expect appearances from other familiar faces as well, including Trapper John. Charles Emerson Winchester III is an oft-focused on character in Kay's fics; another piece, "In Love and War", sets him up with one of Hawkeye's old flames - a socialite Korean woman named Kyung-Soon.

Third but not least, are some fics by another author by the name of Beth Mott. One of my favorites that she's written is titled "Expect the Unexpected" and takes place at the 4077th's 10 year-reunion. And the title is very appropriate! Like Mariole, Beth has also done the "rewrite episodes" bit, only in her case she rewrote three or four entire seasons! The end result is "You and Me and Baby Makes Three", a fic that changes the end of the episode "Yessir, That's Our Baby" so that the abandoned infant adopted by the camp isn't given to the monks, but instead adopted by Hawkeye and Margaret.

And finally, a one-shot fic entitled "Be Happy", by Laurel4. Set in the same universe as Beth Mott's "Expect the Unexpected", "Be Happy" winds up one last loose end from the 4077th's past.

That's it for tonight. Stay tuned for the final "episode" tomorrow.

First off, I changed my LJ layout. Component was getting kind of boring after a couple years. Just wish I was able to do things like change the font style, though...

Second...It's Day 5 of Good Fic Recc Week. And for today's fandom I have chosen...The Muppets!

Yes, you read that correctly. No, I have not lost what's left of my mind.

Really, there is quite a bit of good Muppets fic out there (and by Muppets I mean pretty much anything created by Jim Henson, like Fraggle Rock and the like), and a majority of it can be found at the Muppet Central Forums.

I'll start off with an in-progress Fraggle Rock fanfic by one Convincing John. Titled "The Choice". In it the Fraggle Five (Gobo, Red, Wembley, Boober and Mokey), led by Cantus the Minstrel, must venture out into Outer Space (their term for the human world) to aid a Silly Creature (human) who is in great trouble.

Next up is one of my favorite authors, Lisa or to use her SN, TogetherAgain. Lisa has written several fics, including "Swamp Call" which introduces Kermit's OC sister Maggie, "Summer in the Theatre", "Chasing Robin" in which Doc Hopper makes another appearance, and Lisa's currently in-progress epic "Flippersteps in the Sand", which chronicles the Muppets' history starting from Kermit's first meeting with Jim. Lisa seemlessly weaves in elements from The Muppet Movie and the innocuous Kermit's Swamp Years.

Beth C. wrote a story awhile back called "We Need a Little Christmas". Unfortunately it hasn't been updated since August of last year, but what's there is still an enjoyable read.

Beauregard is another fairly prolific author at the MC boards. He's written quite a bit, but my favorite still remains "Muppet Terror", which was written in response to the subway and bus bombings in London last July. And it's more like three fanfics written in one thread, as some of us who wanted to contribute our own chapters did. I myself contributed three chapters showing the reactions of the group from The Ghost of Faffner Hall. Beau has also written a lovely piece called "Robin's Story" that gives a take as to why Kermit's nephew Robin stays with him instead of in the swamp with his parents.

Sarah, aka ReneeLouvier, a fellow Scooter and Richard Hunt fan (as well as president of the Richard Hunt Lover's Club or RHLC), is the author of a series she has entitled "Sadie's Stories". They chronicle her version of Scooter's history, including the identity of his mother (the aforementioned "Sadie") and the whereabouts of both her and Skeeter. All of the stories in "Sadie's Stories" can be found at Sarah's FF.Net account, as well as at the MC board. A word of warning - Sarah either doesn't use or hasn't grasped the chapter function of FF.Net, so the stories are all in big long documents.

And naturally I can't bring this entry to a close without highlighting the masters of the TMS Outline, Dave "Gorgon Heap" Ebersole and TravellingMatt (known around LJ as [livejournal.com profile] drteeth26. Their outlines are so good you wish that they had been actual episodes.

And of course, you can check out all sorts of Muppet fanfic in the Fan Fiction and Fan Art forum of the MC Board.

And here it is, day 4 of Good Fic Recc Week. Today I thought I'd step away from the realm of animated fandom. Instead I give you a fandom that has captivated me since last year, and that I had the pleasure of seeing for myself this past May.

The fandom du jour: Wicked. A word of warning, most if not all of these fics will be based on the musical rather than the book, and may contain spoilers.

The first Wick-fic I'll be recc'ing is titled "Your Life Could End Up Changing". Written by TheWickedWitchOfOz, this fic is an AU starting from the end of the I'm Not That Girl number. Instead of leaving for the Emerald City right afterwards, Elphaba instead stays at Shiz. It's quite an engaging story, and the author keeps everyone IC.

Next on the list is "Love Thine Enemy" by littlesoprano. Love Thine Enemy is a combination of the musical and the 1939 Oz film. In it, Dorothy witnesses Glinda grieving over the Wicked Witch's death. Glinda then tells Dorothy about what Elphaba was really like and about her friendship with the green-skinned girl. The summary promises that what she hears causes Dorothy to re-evaluate her treatment of Ms. Gulch, but unfortunately the fic hasn't been updated since May of this year. I remain hopeful, though.

"Forever and Again the Wicked" by Port-of-Seas is an interesting work, a combination of the musical universe and book universe. Set as a sequel to Son of a Witch, Gregory Maguire's sequel to Wicked the novel, this fic explores the idea that the Scarecrow is really Fiyero (put forth at the end of the musical). It's a good read, especially for the scenes between Fiyero/Scarecrow and Liir as the former realizes the latter is his son. One word of warning - the fic is rated M, and contains spoilers for both Wicked and SoaW.

And that wraps up another one. See you tomorrow, same place but I can't guaruntee same time.

It's day 3 of Good Fic Recc Week 2006. Today I thought I'd try and get it done before went off to work, particularly since I'll probably be busy watching Project Runway when I get home.

Anyhoo, today's fandom is probably kind of ironic, considering I'm an adult and all: Codename: Kids Next Door.

KND is an awesome series airing on Cartoon Network depicting the war between kid-kind and adult-kind. Two weekends ago CN aired the KND movie "Z.E.R.O." which both answered questions about the KND-verse but served up just as many new ones.

Once again [livejournal.com profile] cybra2003 gets a spot on the recc list. She's written a lot of KND fic, some of it on FF.Net but most of it on her fanfic LJ. My favorite of all of her KND pieces is "Remembering Buckleberry Row". Cybra always writes wonderfully for Nigel Uno. And I loved seeing him humble Numbuh 86.

Another one of my favorite KND fics by Cybra is called "The Head Archivist's Duty". Set in the Boys Next Door universe (from the episode F.U.T.U.R.E.), it centers on an OC of Cybra's and one of her last acts during the final stand of the KND Moonbase against Madame Margaret. I've always found it to be a very powerful vignette.

Last but not least are a couple of fics by Ippiki Ookami no Kage. "Operation: T.R.U.E.-L.E.A.D.U.H" is a Numbuh One-centric adventure story, while "Operation: L.E.G.E.N.D." deals with the aftermath of Z.E.R.O. and Nigel's feelings about his dad being Numbuh 0.

And that brings Day 3 for GFRW to a close. Now to get my butt to work...

And it's day 2 of Good Fic Recc week. I'd have done this sooner, but work gave me a headache. And it didn't get better helping my mom scan the second floor with the black light.

Anyhoo, today's fandom of choice is a fandom I got back into last year around the same time I got into Avatar. Ladies and gentlemen of the f-list, I give you Code Lyoko.

First up to bat is mirelle's wonderful post-Season 2 one-shot, A Last Dance. Taking place mere minutes after the events of The Key, Odd decides to go to the dance anyway and chooses Sissi as his partner. Mirelle's characterization is spot-on; it's such an...Odd thing to do.

[livejournal.com profile] cybra2003 is one of my favorite fic authors, no matter what she writes. That goes for her Lyoko fics as well. One of her best, IMO, is Switch. Switch is an AU in which Aelita and Jeremie's roles are reversed - Jeremie's the one stuck in Lyoko and Aelita is the computer genius behind the Lyoko team. The story flows just like a regular episode of CL would.

Also of mention is a humorous CL one-shot Cybra wrote entitled Wild Ride. The members of the Lyoko team (sans Aelita) are stuck in a car with a maniac driver, but you won't guess who the driver is (and I'm not telling ^_^).

Last but not least is a piece written by a fellow Diaries Guild member. Early Morning Confessions by [livejournal.com profile] custom_magnum is another post-The Key piece that showcases the two girls of the Lyoko team. It touches on things that not a lot of CL fic authors include in their post-Season 2 fics, such as Aelita's true chronological age.

I look forward to seeing more CL fic from all of these authors.

Catch you tomorrow!

Once again, it's Good Fic Recc Week!

(or at least it is according to [livejournal.com profile] misscam)

This year I will be recc'ing fics one fandom per day. Today's fandom du jour is Avatar: The Last Airbender. So get ready for a trip to the World of Four Nations!

The first fic to be recc'd is Tempest in a Teacup by [livejournal.com profile] akavertigo. For those who may not have heard of it, this is a somewhat alternate universe of Avatar in which Katara and Zuko grow up together in the Fire Nation. The story is told not in traditional chapters, in short one-shots that encompass different stages in the pair's lives and their relationship with each other. It's really an amazing piece as [livejournal.com profile] akavertigo is able to keep Katara Katara, even though she's growing up in the Fire Nation rather than in the South Pole.

Next up is [livejournal.com profile] aviaq's A Rotation of Voices. In this piece the author focuses on four of Aang's past lives - Roku, Kyoshi and two OC Avatars inspired by the statues seen in the Southern Air Temple. Each vignette shows part of that Avatar's personality that has wound up as part of Aang.

And the last recc for tonight, although I could keep going with this fandom (believe it or not), is one of those "20 Facts" fics that people on LJ like to do. Specifically, The Good Earth by Airbender is a "20 Things" fic about everyone's favorite blind Earthbender, Toph. It's just a wonderfully done piece.

Well, that wraps it up for tonight.
