Good Fic Recc Week - 2006 - Day 2
Aug. 22nd, 2006 09:29 pmAnd it's day 2 of Good Fic Recc week. I'd have done this sooner, but work gave me a headache. And it didn't get better helping my mom scan the second floor with the black light.
Anyhoo, today's fandom of choice is a fandom I got back into last year around the same time I got into Avatar. Ladies and gentlemen of the f-list, I give you Code Lyoko.
First up to bat is mirelle's wonderful post-Season 2 one-shot, A Last Dance. Taking place mere minutes after the events of The Key, Odd decides to go to the dance anyway and chooses Sissi as his partner. Mirelle's characterization is spot-on; it's such an...Odd thing to do.
cybra2003 is one of my favorite fic authors, no matter what she writes. That goes for her Lyoko fics as well. One of her best, IMO, is Switch. Switch is an AU in which Aelita and Jeremie's roles are reversed - Jeremie's the one stuck in Lyoko and Aelita is the computer genius behind the Lyoko team. The story flows just like a regular episode of CL would.
Also of mention is a humorous CL one-shot Cybra wrote entitled Wild Ride. The members of the Lyoko team (sans Aelita) are stuck in a car with a maniac driver, but you won't guess who the driver is (and I'm not telling ^_^).
Last but not least is a piece written by a fellow Diaries Guild member. Early Morning Confessions by
custom_magnum is another post-The Key piece that showcases the two girls of the Lyoko team. It touches on things that not a lot of CL fic authors include in their post-Season 2 fics, such as Aelita's true chronological age.
I look forward to seeing more CL fic from all of these authors.
Catch you tomorrow!

Code Lyoko Season 2 - Week One
Sep. 23rd, 2005 07:00 pmWell, we've had a full week of new Code: LYOKO episodes, and suffice it to say the second season looks very promising. It's nice seeing Aelita materialized in the real world, going to school at Kadic and interacting with more people than just Yumi, Ulrich, Odd and Jeremie. And in just these past five days we've learned more about Lyoko than we ever discovered in the first season.
So far we've learned that Lyoko was created by Franz Hopper, a man who used to teach science (or computer sciences, or some similar subject) at Kadic. He owned an old house near the school called "Hermitage" that is now abandoned, and that has a third secret passage to the factory where the supercomputer is (the other two passages being in the woods and in the boiler room of the school). He kept a diary, presumably about his creation of Lyoko, which was encrypted and burned onto CD-ROMs. Sometime before the start of the series Franz Hopper disappeared, but not before leaving a briefcase containing his diary discs in a storage locker at the train station. He hid the key to it in the clothing of an old doll named "Mr. Puck", which Aelita found and recognized from the mysterious visions she's been having.
Naturally a lot of the fans are creating their own theories about Aelita, and her connection to Franz Hopper and Lyoko. And yours truly is no exception.

Second season of Code Lyoko premiered today! I've only seen part of the episode that aired today (had to go in to work to sub for someone), but from what I've seen already I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy this season. I like the outfit Aelita has in the real world in this season better than the one she had on in "False Start".
I'm sure I'll have more to comment on after I see the whole episode.
And speaking of Code Lyoko, the premiere of season 2 has pretty much shifted the muses back into the CL fandom. They're all pretty much in agreement that they want to do a fic wherein a new student becomes the sixth member of the Lyoko team; the trouble is, they can't agree on if it should be an OC, a background character from the show or doing a crossover between either W.I.T.C.H. or Juniper Lee.

cynthia_harrell is officially back! Hooray!
