I mean, seriously? Are you not listening to the majority of your users deliberately? How has it completely escaped your notice that WE DO NOT LIKE THE CHANGES AND WE WERE HAPPY WITH THINGS THE WAY THEY WERE?!? We liked having subject lines in our comments. We liked having the drop down, alphabetical list-style menu for our user icons. We liked being able to click a link and move threads to the left so they weren't all scrunched up on the right side of the page. We liked having those options available to everybody, not just people who chose not to disable customized comment pages in S2.

NEWSFLASH: Your designer doesn't know half of what he thinks he does. He obviously doesn't know the users, otherwise he wouldn't have cocked things up as badly as he has right now.

Because you know what? People do use the comment subject lines. We use them for meme communities, for roleplaying to help keep threads straight. Hell, we use them in normal LJ entries as another way of expressing our feelings.

Unlike most people who are going to be answering this my memories of that day are a bit fuzzy; I don't have the clarity of memory for tragedies and disasters that most people seem to have.

All I really remember was putzing around my dorm room that morning because my first class wasn't scheduled until the afternoon, and getting a phone call from my mom wanting to know if I had the television on. When I said "no" she told me that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers. I turned on the television, either just before or just after the second plane hit the second tower.

I spent most of my day at work.

Now I'm spending it sitting in the family room, waiting for Mom & Dad to call/get back from the hospital with an update on Grandpa.

Oh, I collect quite a few things. The biggest one is probably my collection of Care Bears. I also collect antique skeleton keys, Generation 1 My Little Ponies, Nancy Drew books and dolls, including Strawberry Shortcake and other dolls that were popular during the '80s.

With the exception of the skeleton keys, I think the motivation behind my collections is reliving my childhood. These were either the things I didn't have when I was a kid but wanted, or that I did have and ended up having to give away or sell after I "outgrew" them. Having these collections now...it's almost like it brings a little of that time back to me.

It honestly depends on the movie. For example, The Secret of NIMH is my favorite animated movie of all time and there were a lot of changes when it was adapted from Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, most notably the elevation of Jenner from unseen malcontent to major villain and, of course, the addition of Mrs. Brisby's magical amulet.

But you know what? It worked. And it was awesome. And quite honestly, I'll take the movie over the book any day.

Well, being that I used to write it my answer would almost have to be that I love it. I just wish that I could write complete stories instead of merely the idea snippets I get these days.

My grandparents on my father's side, like any good grandparents, kept plenty of toys on-hand at their house for their grandchildren to play with, and most of them were hand-me downs from when my dad and his siblings were kids. Among the toys was a crocheted frog. For whatever reason, when I was really little that frog scared the bejeezus out of me.

Now that I'm an adult with an income, I seem to be going through a second childhood because I'm collecting toys from the '80s that I either wanted but never got, or else had to give up when I got older; My Little Ponies, Strawberry Shortcake, Lady LovelyLocks, etc.

My favorite collection is my Care Bears one. I've been collecting Care Bears roughly since my sophomore or junior year of high school, when Mom and I began attending the Pec Thing twice a year. Some of my bears came from flea market stalls, but a lot of them were Christmas or birthday presents; my mom went on eBay and bid on Bears I didn't have. At the moment I have all of the '80s Bears but only a few of the Cousins, and it's been a while since I've added to my collection.
