And they wait until two weeks before the last projected release date to change it, too.
If this is the way things are going to be, I'm willing to bet even money that the date gets bumped back to July once we get two weeks away from June 11.

May. 12th, 2006 04:55 pmTried to encourage myself to buy the starter pack for the Avatar TCG, even though I know I'll never play it and I just want it for the pretty cards. But I wimped out. Maybe next trip.
Also, Image Comics' Lions, Tigers and Bears officially owns my soul.
And re: New X-Men issues 25-26...

Aug. 11th, 2005 03:15 pmFor the past couple weeks or so, the current storyline in the For Better Or Worse comic strip has been Elizabeth dealing with a male co-worker who is...let's just say he's lower than sleaze. So far he's followed her to her house and was caught sneaking arouhd her house in the wee hours of the morning. In yesterday and today's strips Elizabeth was left alone with him, and he tried to force himself on her - with an unknown (for now) someone coming to her rescue in the last panel. All the guy did was grab Elizabeth to keep her from running away; he didn't force her down to the floor, and everyone's clothing remained on before the mysterious benefactor got the guy in a chokehold.

wtf_inc gets all "WTF?!?" over it, because the strip isn't "funny".
Give. Me. A. Break. So it wasn't a laugh the way Garfield, Foxtrot or Get Fuzzy usually are! That's part of the appeal of For Better Or Worse, IMHO - the characters change and evolve. They actually grow up; oldest son Michael is married with two children of his own, unlike the children of Family Circle or FoxTrot who stay their respective ages forever. And they deal with real-life situations. A lot of FBoW fans remember back several years ago when April was a toddler and fell into a river, and the family dog Farley gave his life saving her from drowning. No one was laughing then.
The title of the strip is For Better or Worse - meaning you take the bad with the good, just like real life. And real life doesn't always have a punchline.
I'm taking bets as to how long it takes that link to make it over to fandom_wank.

Fanfic Author Appreciation Week
March 6 through March 13
Post to your LJ each day at least one of your favorite fanfic authors and why you love them, their work, and why they need more appreciation.
Today's author is Lord Akiyama. Actually, it's more like I'm plugging two of his fics in particular. One is JL/DC-inspired, while the other is a DC concept modified to fit the DCAU, but both are awesome reads.
The first fic is Fantasia Crisis. Although inspired by DC's "Crisis on Infinite Earths", this takes place in the Disney universe with Disney characters. A dozen characters, all from twelve different Disney movies, are called together to defeat Chernabog. The fic has a bit of a "Kingdom Hearts"-feel to it, what with all the world-hopping the heroes do, but there's no sign of Sora or the Heartless. Akiyama is slowly working on the sequel to this fic, and so far it promises to be as good as or better than it's predecessor.
Second is Kingdom Come, DCAU-style. Totally disregarding JLU, Akiyama modifies the original Kingdom Come into an awesome post-Starcrossed AU. I can't really say much more about it, because I don't know what to say or where to begin. Suffice it to say, you'll have to read this one for yourself.
