Went to the Pec Thing yesterday. Technically yesterday was my scheduled Saturday to work, and I tried to convince Mom that I didn't need to get someone to work for me and we could just go today, but she wouldn't have any of it. But I digress...

Added to my pony collection again. This time I managed to find two Summer Wing ponies from Year 6 (High Flier and Little Flitter) plus Baby Blossom. I was excited about the latter because Blossom was my very first MLP. This makes the second set of Mommy/Baby MLPs in my collection (the first being Cotton Candy and Baby Cotton Candy). All three ponies need to be cleaned up, natch, and have fairly bad cases of frizzy hair. Baby Blossom is pretty faded; she's so pale she's nearly white, in fact. The Summer Wings are missing their wings, and High Flier is missing some hair from her mane up near the top of her head.

My biggest find would probably have to be a videotape of Sailor Moon Stars, vol. 1 subbed. I found it at the same booth that I got my ponies from. I realize that I could probably find this on DVD somewhere, but I haven't seen any subbed versions of Sailor Moon where I buy DVDs. Plus the price was cheaper (even with the ponies included).

The rest of my take was in the form of books, both normal and comic. I picked up an issue of Books of Magic and an X-Men New Mutants annual, added a few more titles to my Nancy Drew collection and...that was pretty much it.

Mom and I visited the Pec Thing again, both today and yesterday. I managed to find, among other things, the November 1979 issue of the Saturday Evening Post. What's so important about this issue? Well, it has an article inside about Jim Henson and the Muppets. And on the cover is the Muppets' interpretation of Norman Rockwell's famous Thanksgiving picture.

I also found three more ponies to add to my MLP collection, all of them G1's. I found Posey yesterday; she's a bit dirty and her mane and tail have faded some, but other than that she's in relatively good shape. I also saw a Glory and a So-Soft Twilight pegasus, as well as a mystery Baby Pony, but I didn't get them.

When I went back today they weren't there, but I managed to rescue two other G1 MLPs from a toy horse bin at another booth. The first, Cotton Candy, mostly just needs to be cleaned and have her mane tamed a bit. This makes her the fourth Year 2 pony in my collection.

The second find needs a bit more TLC than Cotton Candy does. I found Windsong, one of the Flutter Ponies, in the same bin as Cotton Candy. Her body is in terrific shape (not even a lot of dirt), but someone hacked off her mane at some point, giving her what looks like a crewcut or a very short mohawk. I'd like to have her mane restored, but I'm unsure of whether to try and do it myself or to send her to someone who can do a professional job and not damage her in the process.

First of all, a happy birthday to one of my favorite actors, the late Roddy McDowall. Roddy passed away in 1998 from cancer; were he alive today, he'd be 77 years young. So, happy birthday Roddy!

Secondly, the Pec Thing was today and as far as hauls go I didn't do too badly. I found three old skeleton keys, which I've taken to collecting. I don't know what it is about old keys that fascinates me so (and my mom doesn't get it either). But I just think they're really neat. I also acquired two more Nancy Drews for my collection, which means I'm probably going to have to do some bookshelf rearranging.

One of the booths had a bin of old My Little PoniesTM, and I just couldn't pass up the chance to add to my collection. I was able to get five ponies (two adults, three babies) for about 8 bucks; not a bad deal, if I do say. They need to be cleaned up and have their hair washed and de-frizzed, but other than that they're in good condition. Later as I was looking through my bag while in line for a waffle cone, one of my ponies was lying feet-up and I noticed for the first time that her hooves were flat. The first Ponies that came out all had flat hooves, and then in Year 2 Hasbro re-released them with concave hooves which became the norm for the MLP line after that. So that is a pretty rare find indeed.
