End of a (pseudo?) era...

If you're a Digimon fan and you haven't heard it by now, chances are you'll hear something about it at least within the next couple days.

Megchan is closing her main Digimon board. The OT, RPG & Fanfic and Couples boards are staying up, but the main board where most of the Digimon dicussion takes place will be no more as of August 29.

Now personally, I can respect her and joeyteel's decision. Megchan's interest in Digimon has waned (hope this doesn't mean she's lost her job translating), and joey has put up with just too damn much as admin for that board for as long as its been up. So I can understand that they're going to shut down the board. And the opinions of many of the other posters at the board seem to be along the same lines.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for all posters there. Some are whining about the board closing, and why can't they keep it up without moderators, and blah blah blah blah blah. One in particular seems positive that he knows what he's talking about when he says that the job of admining that board isn't stressful, when he's probably never even moderated a board in his entire life and joey's been the administrator for Megchan's for God knows how long now.

There are times when I'm saddened that I have to share the Earth with such misfits, and this is one of them.

There comes a time when a mother has to "cut the cord," so to speak and let her child grow up. Well right now I don't know who's having a tougher time of it, me or my mother.

I'll admit it, there are times when I want to stay a kid forever. Hell, I go to flea markets just to look at the toys, mostly stuff from the 80s that I wanted, or had and Mom made me get rid of when she thought I'd "outgrown" them (shows how much she knows; there are people whose Care Bear collections are a lot bigger than mine). But there are other times when I wish that Mom would stop treating me like I'm 11 years old instead of 21.

Yesterday and today, she's been nagging at me about whether or not I've done anything with anybody. Yesterday it was me and my roommate going and doing grocery shopping since she has a car (which wouldn't be bad, since hopefully this roommate'll stick this time around). Today it was whether or not I was going to go with anyone when I got my sundae (turns out I didn't even go for the sundae, just to avoid Mom's nagging). Then later she IM-ed me to see if my television was here yet, and when the subject of dinner was brought up she asked if I was going to eat with anyone. I responded that I probably wasn't, then immediately asked her to leave off. Granted that probably wasn't the wisest thing to do, as she immediately signed off (whether she misunderstood or just got pissed, I don't know).

(Okay, here's where the profanity comes in. All those who don't like that sort of thing, you can get off the bus here. Those brave souls that are left, read on)

But honestly, Mother, if you want me to grow up, then fucking treat me like I am! Nagging at me from over 200 miles away is not going to make me make friends any faster, if at all! You gotta trust me here! Goddamn, she is such a hypocrite! She fucking tells me to act my age, but how am I supposed to do that when she sometimes acts like I'm ten fucking years younger than I really am? Get a clue, Mom! I'm 21 years old; I don't need you hanging over my shoulder giving me prompts every other second! Just leave me the hell alone, and then you'll see how grown-up your daughter really is! If I make any friends (if I decide to; that still is my decision because it's my fucking life), it'll be on my fucking time, not yours! Until then, just leave me the fucking hell alone!
