This is how much Avatar has corrupted influenced me: when I saw Mae Whitman on tonight's SVU episode, I had mental images of Katara as a street kid.

Also, I think the ending would have rocked more if Casey had answered Cassidy/Helen's line of "I hate your guts" with Maj. Margaret Houlihan's famous response of "My guts are not here for you to love."

Okay, that was like, the most boring episode of SVU ever. I kept trying to think up excuses for leaving the room.

At least Olivia's back in NY where she belongs. And tomorrow, Munch gets apped to Milliways.

Project Runway was fucking robbed, man.

Robbed.

EDIT: And no mention of Mako in the "In Memoriam" reel, either? That's bad enough, but his passing wasn't even mentioned in People magazine! Time, yes and I think Newsweek too. But if his death was mentioned in Time you'd think at least People would put it in the Passages section! He'd made enough of an impact for that at least!

They'd better not leave him out of the tributes at the Oscars or the Tonys next year, or Ima raise holy hell.

EDIT THE 2nd: Yayyyy! Mariska Hargitay won! Go Olivia!!! Whoo-hoo!!

SON OF THE EDIT: But Chris Meloni got robbed. And how come they didn't play the cut-off music for Keifer Sutherlend?

Okay, how's this for ironic? Stabler and Munch, the two detectives who got shot in last week's episode of SVU, are the two who wind up working the case in tonight's episode. And Elliot, who got most of the airtime this week, is in an arm cast for roughly 3/4 of the episode! I swear, it's enough to make me start laughing.

cut to be on the safe side )

I don't normally do this, but tonight I've got to comment on tonight's episode of SVU. At the beginning I had a feeling it wasn't the episode described in TV Guide (which, by the way, I'm not too thrilled with their bigger, full-color version, but I digress). About halfway through the episode, when the Neo-Nazis showed up I thought, 'This definately isn't the SVU described in TV Guide for this week.' The following is cut for spoilers )

And now a meme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] misscam:

Read anything good lately? Pick 5-10 books/fics/essays/etc that you're reading or finished recently and tell me why they should be squeed about, discussed, iconized, or sporked, as the case may be. (Feel free to do it in the comments here, if you don't want to do it in your own LJ.)

7. Two Hearts, by Peter S. Beagle. The sequel to PSB's The Last Unicorn, and also (he claims) a bridge for the actual sequel to TLU which he hopes to have published sometime next year or so.

6. Blessed are the Meek, by AlexCabotIsQueen. A SVU and CI crossover that brings the teams of Stabler and Benson and Goren and Eames together on the same case. Not only that, but the case they're working on centers around the musical Wicked. *g* Good stuff.

5. Splinters, by beaujolais. CSI fic wherein Brass is injured at an explosive (literally) crime scene. BrassCatherine friendship ensues, and there are hints of GSR.

4. Of Goblets and Masks, by NileGal (also available at [livejournal.com profile] dwfiction. A crossover between Doctor Who (current series, w/Ten!Doc) and Harry Potter (circa GoF). It's actually pulled off quite well, despite how badly the two fandoms might clash.

3. End of the Circle by MizJoely. Doctor Who fic, involving Seven and Ace and the answering of some questions about the Doctor's past...such as just where did the Doctor's granddaughter Susan come from anyway?

2. Songsmith, by Andre Norton and A.C. Crispin. Part of Norton's 'Witchworld' series, which IMHO is one of the overlooked and underappreciated series of the fantasy genre.

1. Harpo Speaks!, the autobiography of Harpo Marx. This book does well at painting a picture of all the facets of Harpo - entertainer, comedian, musician, loving husband and father and all-around a decent guy.
