Fanfic Author Appreciation Week, Day 6

Fanfic Author Appreciation Week
March 6 through March 13
Post to your LJ each day at least one of your favorite fanfic authors and why you love them, their work, and why they need more appreciation.

It's a two-for-one deal today! Since I missed posting an author on the 6th, I'm making up for it tonight by posting not one, but two authors.

The first author is Bill K.

Although he's written a bit in the DC universe, Bill K is mainly a Sailor Moon author. And he's a damn good one at that.

Reunion revolves around Makoto's (Lita, for all of you familiar with only the dub) wedding, and the inevitable reunion between the Inner Senshi that occurs. As he does in all of his SM fics, Bill seamlessly weaves plot threads from the original manga into the anime universe, making it seem like they've always been there. He even gives Kousagi a cameo of sorts, although it's not a very happy one (for more information on Chiba Kousagi, look here).

Bill doesn't just write for the present day Sailor team; he's also done quite a few fics for Chibiusa, aka Neo Sailor Moon, and the Asteroid Senshi. Most of the Neo Senshi stories are adventureous where Usa and the Senshi battle against one threat or another. Then there are the calmer standalones such as Today Is Your Birthday. And if you're wondering what Hotaru's doing in the 30th Century, this fic takes care of that backstory.

And our second author for today is Stan Bundy, renowned Robotech fic author probably most famous for his epic The Freeman Chronicles.

But first, a plug for something non-TFC related ;)

The Manifestation of Destinies is a crossover between Robotech and Macross. Yes, you read that correctly. It's a very interesting read, unveiling one possibility of the fates of the two ships that were lost (The SDF-3 in Robotech, and the Megaroad-01 in Macross).

But the work that takes up the biggest bulk of Stan's site is The Freeman Chronicles (you'll have to do a little bit of scrolling to reach the table of contents for it). Divided into five books, TFC spans the Robotech timeline from the Malcontent Era to the search for the SDF-3 and beyond, chronicling the adventures (and misadventures) of the Freeman family. But while Stan follows Jack McKinney's timeline and interpretation of the events of the Sentinels (which have been deemed non-canon by Harmony Gold), he also makes major changes that make the TFC-verse AU from Robotech canon.

One of the largest changes is, of course, the introduction of Karen Noel Freeman. I won't go into too much detail about her here, because that would take too long and I've already taken up too much of your time already ;). Suffice it to say, Karen's the reason a lot of the changes to Robotech canon take place in TFC. Because of this and because of other traits, there are some who would call Karen Noel a Mary Sue; hell I even called her that at one point. But despite that, I really do enjoy The Freeman Chronicles as well as the rest of Stan's work.

Currently TFC is still a WIP; Stan only recently posted part fourteen of the fic (the second part of Book 4). And he still has one more part to that book, then all of book 5 to go. And I won't get into his post-TFC epic that's supposed to revolve around the children of characters from The Freeman Chronicles.
