My faith in humanity has plummetted.

Found out about this via [livejournal.com profile] memlu.

I didn't know [livejournal.com profile] omichan or her girlfriend [livejournal.com profile] mayumi. Didn't share interests, wasn't in the same communities. But for something like that to happen to a person...it's just wrong. It's wrong, and the bastard must be caught and I'm going to help even if the only way is by spreading the word through this entry.

[livejournal.com profile] mayumi, my prayers are with you and with Amanda's family. [livejournal.com profile] omichan, rest in peace.

(and for anyone thinking that this might be a hoax, I refer you to here and here as well as [livejournal.com profile] mayumi and [livejournal.com profile] omichan's LJs)

All this just because they were being nice to someone. You start wondering how far gone we really are when a simple act of kindness ends in that person's death.

I agree

This is horrible - it's like they're being punished for trying to be nice to a stranger. It really deteriorates the value of trust and faith in your fellow man.

My sympathies to omichan's family and to mayumi. I'll pray for you, too.

That is just awful.... I look at that and wonder where this world has gone... in the past year, the father of 2 of my students was murdered in their apartment (thankfully the boys were out with their mother).

This world is becoming a sicker place....

Oi...

I gotta agree. I mean you never think about this. You think being nice is a good thing, and something like this happens to make it seem like it isn't...

Of course, this line of thinking unfortunetly is what causes the problem to continue to get worse and such...

Guess that's why I still try and always be nice and helpful, despite knowing these kind of things. It's that hope of making a positive mark in this plummeting world, as opposed to watching the darkness simply swell.

Huh?

At the risk of offending, I'm wondering how you all came to the conclusion that this was caused by an act of kindness? I know that that is what would seem the obvious conclusion, but nowhere in either of the two posted news articles does it say anything about how or why the two were shot. All it says is that police have no ideas on what happened other than that the two APPEARED to have been shot by someone in the back seat and that one of them has died.

If anyone has access to information I have missed, please feel free to correct me.

Hi. I saw this on Anid Rabbit's LJ. It is wrong. I never cease to be amazed at the amount of ways human beings can hurt other human beings.

But, just the fact that random strangers actually care shows that there is hope for the world.

(I friended you, btw!)

I heard about that through another journal. It's so sad. :( Hopefully the other people who were in the cigarette shop will be able to identify the murderer, but it's a stretch - it was really late, and eye-witness testimony is only something like 52% reliable anyway. Whoever did this, though, is one sick, sick bastard. They'd better catch him, before he gets to anyone else.

Found this via Akino Ame's LJ. I cried upon reading this post and omichan's and mayumi's LJs. I used to live in Texas and just hearing about this, even though I didn't know omichan or mayumi and I don't even know you very well Iapetus, well, just hearing about this cuts deep. May Amanda rest in peace and the [sustained bleeping] who did this to her and Jonnie get the Judgment that's coming to him/her.

With your permission I'll help spread the word too, by putting a link in my LJ to this post.

Prayers,
Raven
