Review: Academy X, Issue 9
Not the conclusion I was expecting, but not too shabby as far as conclusions go. The seance was cliche, but the way it and Jeffrey's ghost were handled was great. Everything they were thinking of to get rid of him, and all it takes is Noriko yelling at him to shut up and stop scaring people. I also thought it was cute how Nori's taken the ghost-kid under her wing as a sort of adopted little brother, since it doesn't look like she'll be talking with her own younger brother any time soon. Also, add Nori's father to the list of Academy X characters I despise.
On another note, I love Shan's new additional position as advisor for the younger students at the Institute. That's one aspect of the school that I wondered about, if the younger students got put on squads and were made to go through Danger Room sessions and the like as the older students did. Part of me is glad to see this development, while another part is trashing all fanfic ideas I had for squadrons of younger students. The glimpse of the academy's "lower school" will probably spawn a boatload of new Academy X plot bunnies, though. Especially since it looks like Shan's younger siblings Nga and Leong are in that group.
