2008 Recap
Well, 2009 is finally here so it's time to take a look back at the good and bad of 2008.
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
I guess driving in Rockford in crappy winter weather counts.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Made no resolutions for 2008 to keep. 2009...I'm not holding my breath.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope again.
5. What countries did you visit?
This question implies that I actually travel, which I do not.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
More motivation to get off my arse and lose some weight.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Oh, November 4 no contest.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Being part of the search committee that selected our church's new pastor, and choosing us a good one!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Nothing. Failing would imply that I actually went out and attempted to do something.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing more serious than my usual bouts with the common cold.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
The Sherlock Holmes Granada series. Best thing ever :)
14. Where did most of your money go?
College loan payments, car insurance payments, health insurance payments, iTunes gift cards and Barnes & Noble. Obviously, I need to learn to budget better.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
We found a new pastor!
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
"World" by Five for Fighting.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder? Still hovering somewhere in the middle.
Older or wiser? Older.
Thinner or Fatter? It definitely ain't thinner.
Richer or poorer? Eh...middling there too.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercising, spending time with my friends and family.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting at the computer, eating.
20. How will did you spend Christmas?
Christmas was at my house again, for both sides of the family.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I'm sitting here filling out an end-of-year journal meme. What do you think?
23. How many one-night stands?
You know, I am really getting tired of you kidding me with this question...
24. What was your favourite TV program?
Toss-up between CSI: New York, NCIS, Ghost Hunters and most recently (as in the past couple days) Numb3rs.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
A simple "yes" will have to suffice.
26. What was the best book you read?
Again we had a fairly broad literary spectrum this year, but surprisingly nothing sticks out.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Again, the spectrum is pretty broad. Don't know if I can narrow it down to one song or artist.
28. What did you want and get?
A DVD player for my room that actually works all the time.
29. What did you want and not get?
Again, you don't get disappointed if you don't expect stuff.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
WALL-E!
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Became 27 this year. Had dinner with the family, opened gifts, got flowers...so in other words the same old thing that I did on my last birthday (minus cousin-sitting, thank God).
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Can't think of anything. Which must mean 2008 was satisfying overall, right?
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Same as it's been in the past. Though, I am starting to build an actual fall wardrobe for work now.
34. What kept you sane?
I'm fairly sure now that sanity's overrated.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jeremy Brett. And Robert Joy (it's always the older guys).
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Blago-Gate.
37. Who did you miss?
The usual people.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Pastor Mike.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Always double-check service times at other churches, especially during the summer and especially when you're conducting a search for a new pastor.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Be careful what you wish for. History starts now"
