Oscar night rundown
First off, I just want to say that if they put that many montages/tributes in the 79th annual Academy Awards, I don't want to think about what they have in store for the 80th next year.
Okay, here we go. I only nailed a 50% on my Oscar picks this year, but that's because I was only rooting for two categories. Alan Arkin won Best Supporting Actor for Little Miss Sunshine, which I had been hoping for. Unfortunately The Little Matchgirl got robbed in the Best Animated Short category. My only consolation is that it lost to another 2-D animated short and not the CGI short. But it was still robbed.
Al Gore about to "announce" his candidacy for President in 2008, only to be stopped by the cutoff music = Best Use of Cutoff Music Ever.
Abigal Breslin and Jayden Smith were too cute for words. Pity Abigal didn't win for Little Miss Sunshine, though. And how funny were Will Farrell, Jack Black and that third guy? Who was that third guy, anyway?
Finally, the In Memoriam tributes. I smiled when I saw Mako's name up there, coming a couple names before Jack Palance. When Mako's spot came up all Mom said was, "He was on some M*A*S*H-es, too." I said he'd been in four episodes, and she and Jeff looked at me funny. Well, ex-cuse me for knowing that.
