Name: Ryan Griffin
Age: 19
Where on earth do you live: Alaska. No wait, that's just what it feels like... Syracuse, NY
Reason(s) behind your LJ username: I'm a guy. I like griffins. 24 is my lucky number.
5 things you want to do/accomplish before you die: Hoo boy... let's see...
1: Have a pet that will bring confused looks and utterance of "What kind of animal is THAT?!" at parties
2: Publish something. A drawing, a scientific article, a book, a short story, SOMETHING.
3: See the world, or at least somewhere that isn't the United States or Canada.
4: See every AZA (American Zoo and Aquarium Association) accredited zoo in America
And now for my last, and most far-fetched goal...
5: Have a species named after me.
What makes you happy: Either a long walk in the woods with agreeable weather and a bunch of birds I've never seen before or sitting down with a good meal and an anime series I've never seen before.
What have you been listening to lately: I've been searching through the crap in my Music folder, lingering at whatever catches my fancy. No patterns or preferences.
Do you enjoy reading my LJ: Yes.
If so, why: You're a good friend with good insights, and I like hearing about stupid people.
Interesting fact about you: A game people used to play with me in high school was called "Latin Name Game". The basic gist was that they would ask me an animal and I would give the Latin name of that animal. If I couldn't give it, they got a point.
Ironically, I don't know the names of anyone living in my dorm.
Are you in love at the moment: No. I haven't met anyone yet who sparks an interest.
Favorite destination: The American Museum of Natural History (I'm such a dork).
Favorite quote: "Life's a piece of shit when you look at it/ Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true/ You'll see it's all a show, keep 'em laughing as you go/ Just remember that the last laugh is on you." - Eric Idle, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life", Monty Python's Life of Brian.
Will you post this in your LJ: Meh, maybe.
RECOMMEND
A movie: "Walking with Prehistoric Beasts" is technically a TV series, not a movie, so... Winged Migration. Beautiful, beautiful movie.
A book: "You Belong in a Zoo" by Peter Brazaitis. Memoirs of a Bronx Zoo Reptile House Keeper. Excellent humor, informative, but not dry, and focuses on a class of animals most people wouldn't touch with a 39 1/2 foot pole.
A musical artist, song, or album: Billy Joel. The requisite favorite musician for a Long Island-raised person.
Your fav. LJ user (not on my list already) and why: sclerotic_rings, the caretaker of the Esoteric Science Resource Center. Provides links to paleontology/zoology/astronomy/any other hard science as well as satirical comments towards sci-fi, fanboys, Creationists, and just plain idjits.
