Series I'd like to write fic about, but don't

We know the series that you write fanfiction for. We've read the works you have made public, and enjoyed their contribution. But perhaps there are series you like that you don't write fic about. Why not? The story is closed? It has enough of what you wanted to see? Choose as many series as you wish to include, and the reason(s) why you don't write fanfiction for them, and paste this meme into your own journal.

First: Lord of the Rings. I have been in love with Tolkien's Middle-Earth since the day I first saw Rankin-Bass' version of The Hobbit. More than anything I would love to write something for this universe, perhaps focusing on hobbits. But the truth of the matter is - I am scared to death that I'll commit the sin of creating a Sue, or being accused of doing something that goes against the canon.

Second: Voltron. One of the first shows that I saw when our local cable company began carrying Cartoon Network. One of the first animes to make it to America; it was dubbed in the 80s and yeah it shows, but I love it anyway. Unfortunately I get too many ideas for Voltron fics, and I can't decide which ones to write and which ones to chuck. Plus I go and read other fanfic written for Voltron, and some of it is so good that I feel like giving up on my own attempts.

Third: Secret of NIMH. My absolute favorite animated movie of all time, even surpassing The Last Unicorn and Spirited Away. I get ideas for NIMH fic, but they're ideas that never fully pan out. Plus my inferiority complex kicks in for the NIMH fandom as well, especially when compared to the works of Paul S. Gibbs (probably THE most famous fanfic writer in the NIMH fandom).

Fourth: ER. One of my favorite series on television today. Sole reason for not getting involved in it is the fact that the ER section of the Pit of Voles seems to have turned into one huge battlefield between Carby (Carter/Abby) and every pairing that puts Carter and/or Abby with someone else. It reminds me a lot of the Takari wars of the Digimon fandom, and truthfully it makes me ill.

Fifth: Cowboy Bebop. That series was one of the most beautiful, humorous and touching things I have ever seen. With the exception of a few pieces out there, Cowboy Bebop does not need fanfiction writers ressurecting Spike and making him and Faye settle down with 2.5 kids.

Sixth: Tales of the Gold Monkey. Old, old series from 1980, ran only for one season. I'd love to write for it, especially about my favorite character Bon Chance Louie. But all attempts at it have failed, so I've resigned myself to having to read what Gold Monkey fic exists out there.

Seventh: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. You caught me; I'm a Trekkie. I'm a major DS9 fan, especially of the Kira/Odo romance. But again there is the inferiority complex when faced with the works of others who have written for this fandom, plus I'm just plain leery about writing about it without having seen the episodes in a while.

Eighth: Harry Potter. As with Lord of the Rings, I don't want to write anything that commits major Sueage or violation of canon. I also don't want any of my ideas to sound like the cliched ones that have already been written about.

Ninth: Spirited Away. Too many ideas and decisions to make. Should Haku follow Chihiro into the real world where they can live happily ever after? Should Chihiro return to the spirit world to find Haku so that they can live happily ever after? Plus there's the fact that for some unexplicable reason my muses refuse to give me straight Spirited Away fic ideas; just about every one I've had has been a crossover of some kind.

Tenth: The Dark Crystal. Awesome, beautiful, wonderful movie that didn't get the credit (I feel) it deserves. I feel that any attempts of mine to write fic for it would wind up close to sacrilege.

Well, those are mine. What are yours?
