I feel like crying
A few weeks ago (while Mom and I were down in Monmouth for my graduation), my dad took my car up to Quick Lube for its oil change. That's when we found out that antifreeze was leaking into the oil from somewhere and diluting it. It wasn't an immediate problem, I could still drive the car, but it still needed to be looked at by a mechanic.
Well, yesterday it went to the mechanics. And today Mom talked to the guy, and after talking to him asked me how much I liked my car. Because it was going to cost $900 to $1500 to repair what was wrong. So my choice was either get it fixed, or take it back and trade it in for a different car.
Then later in the day my mom decides that we're going to have the car fixed instead, because I don't drive that much and only drive in town when I do (because you're too paranoid to let me drive in Rockford, Mom [/tangent]), and trade it in down the line. I was fine with that, until she got to the issue of payment. Mom and Dad don't have the money to pay for the repairs to my car, because they need to have enough money to pay taxes (or something). Not to mention we traded in Mom's minivan almost a month ago.
I, on the other hand, have plenty of money in my savings account to pay for the repairs. Money that I've been saving to pay off my student loans for college since, oh, my freshman year of college (and since I didn't have a steady job until two months ago, there's not as much in there as you'd think).
So now the plan is for me to pay for the repairs to the car, and Mom and Dad will pay me back. And even though I have enough in my checking account and enough left over in my savings to make a few payments on the loans, I can't get this image out of my head of money flying out of my savings account that I'm going to need in the future and not have.
And I feel like crying.
