First of all, let me just say I am minorly pissed with the college I graduated from two months ago. See, one of my friends from my hometown also chose to go to that school, and last year his mother was diagnosed with cancer and he's been taking it kind of hard. I haven't heard from him since I left there, but my mom and I talked to a friend of ours from church today who keeps in contact with his family and supposedly he's not doing so hot academically.
Well, according to this friend, my friend was talking to one of his professors about his grades and the professor pretty much asked him, "What's more important to you: your school work, or your mother?" My friend almost attacked the professor, and a few of his friends had to hold him back.
Honestly, what kind of an unfeeling jackass do you have to be to say something like that to a student who isn't sure if his mother will live to see him graduate? If I were still down there, I'm not so sure that I would have been helping to hold him back; I may have been helping to hold that professor down.
*sighs* Okay, I feel somewhat better about that now.
And now for some more memage, borrowed from

1) using band names, spell out your name: Hoo-boy, this is going to be tough. *sighs* All right. For the record, I don't listen to all of the bands that I will use for this exercise... KISS - Iron Maiden - Moby - Blink 182 - Evanescence - Rolling Stones - Linkin Park - Yoko Kanno (yeah, so I cheated on that last one).
2) have you ever had a song written about you? Not in this reality. If there are alternate realities out there, I highly doubt I had a song written about me in any of them.
3) what song makes you cry? "Ashokan Farewell," that hauntingly bittersweet violin piece that was composed for the Ken Burns series on the American Civil War for PBS. My grandfather was a Civil War buff, and when that song was played at his funeral I just bawled. Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel" also makes me a little weepy.
4) what song makes you happy? "Night Ride Home" by Joni Mitchell (almost anything by Joni Mitchell, actually).
5) what do you like to listen to before bed? Depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Either something upbeat or something mellow. Again, we go back to the Joni Mitchell thing...

height: 5'4". Actually it's 5'3" or 5'4", but I like to say 5'4" because I'll take as much height as i can get!
hair color: Brown
skin color: Kind of pale, but not too much.
eye color: Brown
piercings: I had pierced ears once, but I got lax about taking the earrings out and then putting them back in, so the holes closed. I don't think I'll get them repierced, which means I have about a dozen pairs of pierced earrings sitting in my jewelry box going to waste.

what color pants are you wearing?: Blue. What other color would you expect blue jeans to be?
what song are you listening to? "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler. My absolute favorite 80s song.
what taste is in your mouth?: Popcorn. Was sharing it with Mom and the dog while watching the SAG awards.
what's the weather like?: Dark, because it's night :p It was raining out earlier, but right now it's cold and overcast (and damp). Oh, and the temperature is 37 degrees Farenheiht, according to my desktop Weathercast.
how are you?: Still mildly pissed off (see the part of the entry before this meme to understand why). Unsure if I want to be called in to work tomorrow.
get motion sickness?: Sitting in a stationary chair, no. I used to as a kid (especially if I read while in the car) but I thought I outgrew it. But funnily enough now sometimes I'll be riding in the car and feel like I'm getting overheated and then...you can figure out the rest I'm sure.
have a bad habit?: Procrastinating.

tv show: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
conditioner: Suave. I only say that because my brother and I both use a two-in-one shampoo/conditioner.
book: How much time do you have to listen to me talk about this subject?
non alcoholic drink: Dr. Pepper.
alcoholic drink: NONE. I am on the wagon for life; I have never even tasted champagne, for crying out loud. I am of legal age, have never had a sip of alcohol and damn proud of that fact.

broken the law: *blushes* I kinda drove through a stop sign once. Was paying attention to something else and just zipped right through it. Fortunately there wasn't a cop in the area (have I mentioned that I don't drive that much?).
ran away from home: Nope. Threatened to do it, but never followed through.
ever gone skinny dipping: *said with a "Thom inflection"* Heell no.
ever tipped over a porta potty: Are you insane?
used your parents' credit card before: Technically, I used their credit card number once. I needed to buy textbooks that hadn't been in the bookstore the first time I was there, and I had run out of checks.
skipped school before: A couple times during college, but it was just one class. I slept too long and woke up without enough time to dress and get to class on time. Missed a quiz that way. Incidentally, that was during what I not-so-affectionately refer to as my "Semseter from Hell."
fell asleep in the shower: Nope.
been in a school play: Just my eighth grade drama class' class play. I still have found memories of "The Drug Store Incident."

boyfriend: No, and I'm not looking. There was a boy in middle school who had a crush on me; he was one of the Special Ed kids and had sort-of stalker tendancies, which kind of freaked me out. And a guy Internet friend who at one point admitted he liked me more than a friend (which also sort of freaked me out). Truthfully, I just don't think I'm ready for a serious relationship.
girlfriend: See answer for "boyfriend."
sexuality: Hmm. I'm leaning heavily toward straight, although there are times when I wonder if I'm asexual.
children: Does a family cat who has pretty much identified me as "Mom" count? In all honesty, I'd love to have kids in the future, either by the natural way or by adoption. Whether or not there's a husband/partner in the picture to help me raise these kids is another subject entirely.
been in love: Nope.
had a hard time getting over someone: Not really. Had no one of the romantic relationship to get over. In elementary school I went through friends so quick (or they went through me) that I sort of got used to losing friends.
been hurt: Again, romantically no.

do you have a job: Kinda-sorta. I'm presently "on call" to be a subsitute teacher's aide for the local elementary school, so the hours I work are very iffy at best.
if you were a crayon what color would you be?: Violet.
what makes you happy: Writing, drawing, reading or watching something on television that makes me laugh out loud, spending time with my family. ANY fanfic that has decent plot, characterization, spelling/grammar and in conclusion DOES NOT SUCK.
who makes you happiest: My best friend Kelly. I love that girl like a sister.
what's the next cd you're gonna get?: Not sure. Most likely going to be another Joni Mitchell CD. I'm hoping to get the Geffen Recordings for my birthday.

movie you saw in the theater: Bruce Almighty. Which, incidentally, I did not want to see but the rest of my family dragged me to see anyway. I can't explain for sure why I didn't want to see it; I just have this hang-up about Jim Carrey, of all people, portraying God or someone with God-like powers.

abortion: Only if it is absolutely necessary, as in if the health of the mother will be endangered if the baby is carried to term.

spice girls: Who? (I know who they are; I just could care less)

I hope he realizes the error of his ways. I might not let my mother borrow my CD's, but you can guarandamntee that I'd be there above all else if she was terminally ill, God forbid.
To that professor, I have but two words for him..."YOUR FACE!"
