T-minus 10 hours, seven minutes and counting
Well, in less than twelve hours the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series will be hitting shelves in bookstores and libraries. Our director is coming in early Saturday morning to catalog and process the books and audiobooks we ordered so that they'll be ready to go by the time the library opens, and so that all of our copies don't show up on the Pick List on hold for people at other libraries.
While I was planning on waiting until some of the fervor died down to get my copy, I broke down last month and reserved it at Waldenbooks in the mall. If all goes according to plan I will be picking it up sometime tomorrow while Mom and I are in Rockford.
I...don't really have any expectations as far as what will happen goes. I'm expecting that liked characters will die, though I'm kind of hoping that Snape won't just so that he can live to terrorize a future generation of Hogwarts students.
Probably the only thing I'm really, really curious about is the identity of the person JKR said would use magic at a late age. Because I am totally betting, dollars to donuts, that it's Filch. It makes sense, to me at least, because of his attempts at finding alternate means of using magic mentioned in previous books. It's gotta be Filch.
Muses are strange beasts; the minute I chose my Ileana/Karsh icon for this post (because I have no Harry Potter icons), they start churning out plot bunnies for HP/T*Witches crossovers. I'm making them wait until I'm finished with Deathly Hallows.
Lastly, I've done relatively fine so far in avoiding the spoilers that have been running rampant on the 'Net for the past week. I was spoiled for Dumbledore's death in HBP; I don't want the same thing to happen with DH. So, try not to ruin it for me, people, please?

I'm waiting for Penny Arcade to do a strip on HP 7 for Sunday so that I can potentially create a new HP-oriented icon with the words "F*^@N PWNED!". You know they'd rise to the bait.
You have NO idea how much temptation I had this evening. There's 300 bloody copies of HP7 in my back room at work. Though I'm scared cause they have giant yellow warning labels on them. I'm afraid that a turret will sprout from one of the random boxes and pelter me with words and angry things such as "YOU HAVE BEEN SERVED" or some crap like that.
