Well, the KND fandom has grabbed me by the ankles and sucked me back in.

The following is cut for anyone who hasn't yet seen this episode and wants to avoid spoilers *laughs a little crazily* ...a-hem. Sorry. Anyhoo...

This episode has definately fallen into my favorites category. It was cool seeing the Sector V team before its members included the operatives we're familiar with, and very cool to see the younger versions of Cree and some of the other characters - I noticed younger versions of 362, 86, Chad and the now-former Numbuh 12 in the crowd shot from the flashback. Interestingly enough, 86 was a KND medic before she became head of decommissioning!

The episode also helped me figure out some of the age issues I've been pondering over. Maurice turned 13 in this episode, making him 10, 9 1/2 at the youngest, during the "three years ago" prologue. This would make Cree, who looked like the oldest member, around twelve years old at the time of the prologue and 15 years old now.

Then we come to Numbuh 5, who like her sister I'd have to say is the oldest member of the current Sector V. According to Cree in the prologue, the teenager battle was Abby's second mission as a member of the KND. Later on in the episode Numbuh 3 mentions that 5's birthday is in a week, but Numbuh 5 doesn't seem too happy about it. Based on that and Abby's comments later in the episode that she'll "be a teenager soon enough", I'd have to place her age at at least eleven, perhaps even twelve. Abby certainly seems preoccupied with getting older and being decommissioned from the KND, so I'm thinking her time might be coming sooner than those of her teammates.

It was somewhat surprising to learn that Cree had never properly been decommissioned, which would explain why she's retained her memories of the KND. It had always been my believe (and my bit of fanon) that memory erasure with decomissioning didn't happen until after Cree left the KND because of something she had done. So now all I can figure is that something big must have gone down when Cree turned 13, causing her to leave - or even escape - before she could have her memory erased.

And finally, another bit of my personal KND fanon has been confirmed as canon - the existance of teenage members of the KND who haven't been decomissioned for the sole purpose of infiltrating the teenage and adult worlds and sending the information back to the KND. When I had first gotten into the KND fandom, I'd created a team of teenagers, decomissioned KND operatives, who existed to secretly assist KND teams when it was needed. The plot point of memories being erased at decomissioning put a damper on it, but after having seen this episode makes me want to pull that idea right out again and revamp it.

Operation: S.N.O.W.I.N.G.
Oh, man. The Star Wars send-ups were flying thick and fast here. Sled-speeders, Bus-walkers, the 4th Grade president dressing all in black, the "Force-choking"/tacos for supper bit...if this wasn't an outright parody of the trilogy, I'll eat my hat.

*looks over at muse* NO! I am not going to write a KND-version of all three movies! Get out of here, scram!

Operation: L.O.V.E.
Speaking of parodies...I'm not sure which this was more a send-up of, Grease or West Side Story.

I wish the writers would quit making Numbuh 4 out to be a total idiot. I mean, he couldn't have been that clueless about the play, not if his parents were sitting in the audience meaning they had been invited. Things like "2+2=Pizza" are funny, but give the Aussie back a little intelligence, okay?
