I think we've been adopted.
A white and black kitty has been hanging around our house for the past week or so; we think s/he belongs to our neighbor across the street, but the only person over there Mom has talked to says he thinks it might be their cat, but he's not sure.
Well, sometime between yesterday and tonight Kitty went from skittish to very friendly. Mom picked Kitty up to keep him/her from running under my aunt's car when she backed out of the driveway and all of a sudden Kitty did not want to let us out of her sight. When we headed towards the house s/he followed. I sat down on the porch, and Kitty jumped up in my lap.
So I headed up to the store and got some kitten food (once my lap was free), and Kitty is now temporarily living in the old dog kennel in our sunroom. This is until we a) have him/her checked at the vet, b) find out if s/he belongs to the neighbors or somebody else and c) if Kitty is homeless, decide what to do from there.
Personally, I think Kitty may have already made his/her choice...
