As embarrassing as it is for me to admit, my most vivid holiday memory is the year I got the back of an earring embedded in my ear *sweatdrop*. I was in the sixth grade and had gotten my ears pierced for my birthday earlier in the year, so I was still at that "wearing earrings to bed to keep the holes from closing" stage. Anyway, that year we were celebrating Christmas Eve over at my grandparents' (Mom's side) house. I was wearing a pair of post pearl earrings that had the longer, cylindrical backing. For some reason I decided to take them out. The left earring came out fine, but when I tried to take out the one in my right ear, the back of it wouldn't budge. Mom and my aunt spent fifteen to twenty minutes trying to get it out; apparently sleeping with that pair of earrings in my ears for several nights in a row pushed the back of the earring right into the skin of my earlobe. But they got it out, and I spent the rest of the night with a sore ear.
And of course, that was the year after the Christmas that my hair caught on fire.
