My journal name is
ladyiapetus because it is the name I have been known by on the Internet at large for the past five or so years. I started out simply as Iapetus, the name which I wrote my first piece of PR fic under and posted under on the Angel Grove Message Boards back when they were on InsideTheWeb. I chose it because Iapetus is one of the moons of Saturn, and Sailor Saturn was my favorite of the Senshi. Later on I "upgraded" to Sailor Iapetus for reasons that I can't remember now. Then a few months after that I "upgraded" again to Lady Iapetus, feeling that the title of "Lady" fit me better than "Sailor".
My journal title, "Defying Gravity," is the title of probably the most recognizeable song from the musical Wicked. Even though I've never seen it I think it's an awesome musical. Plus I identify with Elphaba, having been the "social outcast" for a great majority of my childhood.
My journal subtitle, "Nothing Done out of Love Can Ever Do Us Harm," is a lyric from one of the songs of another of my favorite musicals, Zanna, Don't!. In the context of the musical, Zanna (played by Jai Roderiguez) says it to encourage himself as he prepares to cast a spell that will make the world more tolerant of heterosexuals but may cost him his magical powers in the process. Out of the context of the musical (or in the bigger context of the musical), I think it describes something that everyone needs to learn: tolerance.
My flist title, "With Friends Like These...," doesn't really need an explaination. Everyone probably already knows the other half of the phrase ("who needs enemies?").
My lj "name," "Kim, The Roving Wanderer" is a combination of my real name and my "title". The first part is self-explanatory: Kim is my first name. The second part is the last part of my "title" (the entirety of which can be found in my biography in my LJ profile, if you're curious). The whole deal with the title came about during the days of the Angel Grove Youth Center ITW message board. Someone was impersonating one of the regular posters, so the poster being impersonated started adding a title to her screenname so that we would know it was her. Pretty soon a lot of the other posters were adding titles to their screen names just for the hell of it, me included. I think at one point there was a competition to see who had the longest title on the message board. But I digress... The "Roving Wanderer" portion of my "title" comes from the fact that I tend to bounce from fandom to fandom - there will be times when I'll want to write for nothing but Digimon, and then my attentions shift to a different fandom. Usually it's one of my regular fandoms, but sometimes a new one will pop up and either stick around or fade into obscurity. And sometimes I'll be dabbling in a few fandoms at a time; for example, I'm pretty into Doctor Who right now, but last's nights showing of The Wizard of Oz on TBS and the updating of one of my favorite Wicked fics has gotten me into a TWoZ/Wicked mood as well. And X-men is hovering in the background there too, somewhere.
My default icon was made for me by Josie. The girl in the foreground and background pictures is Lee Shiuchon (or Shuichon or Shaochung or Suzie Wong) from Digimon Tamers. Shiuchon is my favorite human character from the Tamers season. She's spunky, she's cute and she Tamed a Deva, which leads me to believe that Shiuchon may be one of the most powerful members of the Tamers team. The "Prodigy" label comes from the anime Weiss Kreuz, something that Josie knows a helluva lot more about than I do. So don't ask me to explain it further than that.
