Recap 2010


1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Learned how to give subcutaneous fluids to a cat. And helped start a community garden at my church.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I can't keep what I never make.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
One of my cousins on my mom's side of the family surprised us all by having a baby boy.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Fortunately no. Well, I could count Ron Santo if I wanted to...

5. What countries did you visit?
Can I count fictional countries?

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A better handle on my spending habits, especially with a credit card added into the mix.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
February 10: the date of the first homicide my little hometown has seen in 40 years.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
By doing nothing, I've achieved nothing. That could be an achievement in itself...I guess?

9. What was your biggest failure?
And to go along with the answer to 8, by doing nothing I've failed at nothing either.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Started off the new year with a goddamn ear infection.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Nothing really sticks out.

14. Where did most of your money go?
The usual places.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My woman's church group starting up our community garden, and seeing it take off.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
"Hey, Soul Sister" by Train.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Happier or sadder? A little happier.
Older or wiser? Older.
Thinner or Fatter? Not thinner. Never thinner.
Richer or poorer? Eh...middling there too.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercising, spending time with my friends and family.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting at the computer, eating.

20. How will did you spend Christmas?
Christmas was, once again, at my house for both sides of the family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
That was the furthest thing from my mind this year.

23. How many one-night stands?
Not even dignifying that with a response.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Castle! Castle, Castle, Castle.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not quite but...it's close. It's very, very close.

26. What was the best book you read?
Hands down it's The Hunger Games trilogy, particularly Mockingjay.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

28. What did you want and get?
A Nook!

29. What did you want and not get?
Can't be disappointed if I don't expect a whole lot, can I?

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Well, I only saw one movie in the theater this year so I'll say Megamind.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 29. I had to work, and ended up being surprised by my coworkers with a birthday cupcake.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If all of the pages of the book had stuck to Blago when it got thrown at him.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Me. How else am I supposed to describe it?

34. What kept you sane?
Nothing; sanity's not much fun.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Nathan Fillion.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Blago-Gate: Part...III? I think? Of course, it's pretty much never-ending...

37. Who did you miss?
The usual people.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
New co-worker Stephanie!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Closing the library for a four-day weekend is not a wise idea, and will only tick off the patrons.
